How Long Does the Fudge Last?

Occasionally we have been asked this question.: "how long does the fudge last?" How long the fudge keeps and how long it lasts are really two different things. We recommend that the American style chocolate fudge be consumed within about a week, whilst the more traditional butter fudge, especially if stored in a cellophane packet, can keep for up to a month. We have tested both and both are great after these storage times, but who on earth would want to do that anyway? The main problem that we have heard is that the fudge does not last long at all because it gets eaten so quickly!

The tastiest solution to that problem is to buy some more and here is another photo to tempt you. So see you soon at the Porter Estate Produce Market or contact us about direct delivery options

A Word about our American Style Chocolate Fudge

Our chocolate fudge is more chocolate than fudge or at least is so from a traditional South African perspective. It tastes more like smooth and soft chocolate rather than the slightly crunchy texture (no crunchy sugar though - it is also in it way pretty smooth as all sugar crystals have fully disolved in the manufacturing process) of our more traditional fudge range.

These chocolate fudges lend themselves to the addition of interesting and popular flavours and types. For example we offer the popular white chocolate with real lemon juice giving them a distinctive lemon zing. The dark chocolate mint taste remarkably like after dinner chocolate mints. All our chocolates can quite easily be cut with a knife, so you could in fact serve them as conveniently sized after dinner mints! Newer additions, not in this photograph include popular coffer fudge with real coffee added and our increasingly popular chilli chocolate fudges with an unmistakable chilli after bite. But don't just take our word for it. Come along and try our tasters. After all tasting is believing! See you soon.

Sometimes the Difference is only in the Taste

For the past month and a bit we have been offering a new addition to our range of fudges. Our new brown sugar butter fudge is made with brown sugar and some fudge fundis have said that it has a slightly more caramel taste than our traditional butter fudge which is made in the more usual way with white sugar.

A gift box, traditional butter fudge and tasters in front
It is almost impossible to tell the difference between these two types of fudge just by looking at them. They both look golden brown in colour. So the best way to tell the difference is by taste. At The Porter Produce Market we offer tasters of both traditional and brown sugar fudge, so come along on a Saturday morning and you too will be able to taste the difference.

The Best Fudge in Cape Town?

We like to think that our 'Glorious Fudge' is up there with the best available in Cape Town.

Cranberry fudge

Most Saturday mornings you will find a fine selection of our real butter fudge and American style chocolate fudge for sale at the Porter Estate Produce Market in Tokai (visit our stall between 9.00am and 1.00pm).

About the best days in Cape Town are those mid-winter days, when there is no wind and no rain. Last Saturday was just such a day and happy visitors strolled around the Porter Market on that glorious sunny winter's day, tasting and buying great home made products including of course our fudge. Affirmation from a really young customer came in the form of a delighted exclamation when he saw me "There's the fudge man, there's the fudge man!" and he identified his favourite fudge after trying some of the tasters by declaring - "they are all good, but this one is really delicious!"

No rain is predicted for Saturday 23 July, so why not take an outing and visit us at the market? We look forward to seeing you there and invite you to try some of our fudge tasters and decide which fudge you find to be the most delicious.

We also sell direct and can deliver within the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. To place an order, telephone us on either 021 715 7130 or  082 540 2367. You can also send us an email to gloriousfudge@gmail.com
