Friday 14th February is Valentine's Day. Tomorrow is not too early to get some Glorious Fudge for that special person or indeed those special people in your life. In the Cape Town area, we will be back at The Palms Market in Woodstock and Porter Estate Market (weather permitting) in Tokai.
We will be doing up some of our packets with Valentine's Day heart ribbons. They will look something like the photo depicted here.
Valentine;s Day or St Valentine's Day is supposedly named after a Roman Saint who died on 14 February. He does not appear to be listed any longer as a saint within the Roman Catholic Church, but 14 February is reportedly listed as a commemoration day in the Anglican Church for "Valentine, a martyr of Rome", stemming from about AD 269.
However, we need not concern ourselves with these details, unless we particularly wish to, of course. Much more to the point, is to use this day to give flowers or confectionery or to send cards. We can of course help with the confectionery. Our range of fudges have proven to be very popular with anyone with a sweet tooth. They appreciate a fudge that is as smooth and natural as possible.
So this year, why not do something really sweet for your Valentine and say it with Fudge Glorious Fudge?

Not the Cheapest Fudge in Cape Town
If you shop around, we are sure that you will find cheaper fudge at some markets and shops in Cape Town. We at Fudge Glorious Fudge, don't make cheap, we don't sell cheap, we don't even like the word cheap. Cheap leaves a nasty taste in our mouths, just as cheap fudge might do in yours. So enough about cheap.
Our fudge is more expensive because we use top ingredients and we don't take any shortcuts when we make our butter fudge. There lies the first clue. All our fudge has butter as an important ingredient. Some cheap fudge is made with margarine and then instead of stirring slowly and lovingly on the stove top, some fudge is bunged into a microwave and a few moments later, hey presto, you have grainy, sugary fudge. The sugar hasn't even had time to dissolve properly and the fudge is often a light brown or yellowish colour as the sugar hasn't had time or the right method to caramelise.
We are proud of the fact that our fudge has a relatively short shelf life (see the expiry date on the bottom of our packets). Some fudges are pumped full of preservatives, artificial colourants and flavourants with scary sounding names and formulas. We add nothing like that. Sure, our vanilla fudge has vanilla added, but it is genuine vanilla extract rather than artificial vanilla essence.
A few of the added products such as the marshmallows in marshmallow chocolate fudge, gets blended with our fudge and comes along with whatever has been used in the manufacturing process of that product, but we ourselves do not add artificial additives.
So for a superior fudge, we charge a little bit more. We are sure that you will appreciate it.

New Year's Resolutions and Fudge Glorious Fudge
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our loyal clients for their support during 2013 and look forward to seeing you again at one of the markets next year.
As many have discovered, we also make to order and would be delighted to find out how we can help to sweeten up your life or the lives of your family and friends during the year ahead.
Can we let you into a little secret? We have noticed that for the first two to three weeks of the year, some of our regular customers say "no" to our fudge, but by the fourth week of the year most resistance to our "simply delicious" fudge has totally crumbled.
So our "new year's message" is - certainly cut back on things in the new year, but why suffer the agony and torment from deprivation of our "simply irresistible" fudge? You know you want it. You don't need to eat it by the packet full. A piece here and a piece there should do the trick. Rather cut back on those "other things".
That way you can ease your way into 2014 without angst and anguish.
So there you have it - "sweet solutions to your new year's resolutions!"
Wishing you all of the best for 2014!

Back at The Waldorf Night Market today
Fudge Glorious Fudge are back again at The Constantia Waldorf Night Market from 5.00 till 9.00pm today. Look out for our table inside the hall. You cannot miss our hand-crafted sign.
We will have many of our ever popular flavours available as pieces or packets. As we are approaching December, there will also be some festive season packets on sale.
How to get to Constantia Waldorf School. -
The school is in the heart of the Constantia Valley on Spaanschemat River Road. For those who live in the Constantia Valley, Waldorf Constantia is easy to find. You know where Peddlars on the Bend Restaurant and Pub is and the school is right next door.
If driving south on the M3 freeway from the direction of Cape Town, take exit 15 marked "M38 Kendal Road". Turn right at end of off-ramp and then left at T-junction. Drive straight on at the set of traffic lights, follow the road as it bends to the right and then left. You can't miss Peddlars on the Bend and the school is immediately after that.
If travelling north, from the direction of Muizenberg, take exit 16 marked "M39 Ladies Mile". Turn left at the end of the off ramp and first left again. Shortly after that Peddlars on the Bend appears on the right followed by Waldorf.
These directions may be detailed, but they are quite easy to follow and we would not want you to miss some of the best fudge in Constantia. And of course the rest of Waldorf Night Market is not too bad either.
The Waldorf Market usually operates on the last Friday of October, November, January and February and we are not able to get there every time. For other weekends you can find our fudge for sale in the Constantia Valley at Porter Estate Market in Tokai every Saturday morning from 9.00am until 1.00pm

Why many Fudge Connoisseurs Claim our Fudge to be the Best Fudge in Cape Town
We thank the many fudge connoisseurs who comment so favourably to us about our fudge. They nearly all mention how smooth our fudge is. They talk to us about the golden brown colour of our more traditional fudges and the amazing flavours of our more different fudges. The ginger, the honey, the cranberry and vanilla fudges all get their favourable comments. "Where is your coconut fudge today" is a question we were asked last week. Alas, we had already sold out by the time the customer had got to Porter Market.
The Wellington Squares are sometimes confused with the very similar "millionaire's shortbread". Millionaire's shortbread usually has a caramel filling, whilst our Wellington Squares have our traditional butter fudge sandwiched between chocolate and shortbread biscuit. A lady from England thought our Wellington Squares had caramel in the middle, but when she heard it had our smooth, creamy butter fudge instead, she bought a packet without hesitation.
"Three packets of your ginger fudge please" was another recent request. Unfortunately we had again sold out. "Get more stocks then" was a comment made by a customer keen on a certain flavour, that we did not have.
We do not like to keep large stocks though as we want to sell fudge that is as fresh as possible. Our more traditional fudges keep for more than a month and our chocolate and biscuit fudges for about 3 weeks, but even so, we turn out fresh batches weekly.
You can get some fudges in the shops which will keep for 3 months or longer, but they are pumped full of preservatives. Our fudges have no additives. We like like to make them as natural as possible for you. And that is another reason that our customers appreciate our superior fudges and we thank our regular connoisseurs for their continual support.

Join us Sunday 29 September at The Natural Good Market at The Oval, Canal Walk from 9.00am until 2.00pm. We will have a wide range of our best fudges on sale and tasters for you to taste.
The Natural Goods market is a great destination market for the whole
family. It can also be included as part of a visit to the Canal Walk

shopping mall. Otherwise it is only about a 10 minute walk from the
mall to the market. It is also possible to park at the market. Just

Where to buy some of the Best fudge in Cape Town
We don't usually say it, but our customers do. They often refer to our fudge as simply "the best they have ever tasted". And we don't like to argue with our customers... especially when they say things like that.
Today we got a call from someone who seemed a little desperate. She had bought some fudge for her mother from The Palms Market last Saturday and she, or at least her mother was in a real need of some more fudge and she couldn't wait until next Saturday. Please could we help her. It had to be our fudge, as nothing else would do.
It is well documented in this blog that two of the most popular places to get our packets or pieces of fudge are either at The Palms market in Woodstock or at The Porter estate Produce Market in Tokai. Unfortunately, during this past winter, rain has prevented the market at Porter estate for operating on a number of Saturdays, but as we move into summer we hope the weather will be kind and that we will be able to be there every Saturday.
Speaking of summer, also look out for Glorious Fudge at The Natural Goods Summer Market at Canal Walk on the last Sunday of the month [excluding December] and the Waldorf Night market in Constantia on selected last Fridays of the month. So we will next be at the Natural Goods Market on Sunday 29 September 2013.
Currently, you can also get our traditional butter fudge at two outlets in the City Bowl area of Cape Town. Down at the V&A Waterfront, you can purchase pieces of our fudge from Wild Thing Africa in the Red Shed Craft Workshop. One can access the Red Shed from the one end of the food court or by going between the Cinema Noveau and the Cape Town Fish Market.
A new spot is at the Euro Goods Store at The Palms Lifestyle Centre in Woodstock. So when we are not there during the week, you should be able to source our packetsfrom them.
We are looking at other sites, currently in the Southern Suburbs as well as the South Peninsula. So if you know of any places that might be interested, do let us know, so we can get some of the best fudge in Cape Town closer to you!
In the meantime, by prior arrangement, we can supply you directly if you live in the Southern Suburbs - generally in the area between the mountains and the railway line and between Rondebosch and Lakeside. Deliveries are free, subject to minimum orders.
